What makes a hero?
A warrior defined,
Is it the sword in his hand,
Or what's on his heart and mind?
Purity and discipline,
A reputation undefiled.
These are the qualities that
Push a warrior that last mile.
The metals clash and sparks bright,
But the hero wonders if he's doing what's right.
On the battlefield it's easy to know who to engage,
But at home in the quite the battle still can rage.
What drives the hero to stop in his tracks,
Pick up the Word to show him what he lacks?
The Spirit is on him and to that the hero clings,
The battles of the day with its dents and it's dings
Still haunt him and bring him to his knees,
But that's where the battle is won or lost,
On his knees he finds in the Spirit the great cost,
The Father who gave all that He had,
In blood it was finished, there was victory in death.
The definition of warrior, hero or king,
Is the shared inheritance the children of Abraham all sing
"Glory to the Father!" is the battle cry,
Savior, conqueror... In him the spirit can't die
Girded in Love, mercy and Grace
The warrior suits up to avoid any disgrace.
The belt of truth, by truth we're set free,
it holds us together and bonds us with peace,
The breastplate of righteousness, the heart guarded for good,
hard to penetrate- if the enemy even could.
The shoes of readiness, no fashion statement here,
just ready to stand on the foundation crystal clear,
A warrior's shield, a powerful tool, by faith it puts out the enemy's fiery darts,
they never stood a chance to get to his heart,
The crowning piece, the helmet strong and unbreakable,
Salvation defined and unshakable! The debt is cleared, never to be condemned,
in faith and truth the warrior dons the helmet never to be taken off again,
The sword of the spirit, the Word of God! Keep alert and strong and call on The King!
Protection in knowledge and understanding divine,
the warrior shouts out "The victory is mine!- In the Lord death is conquered, I'm nothing without Him! he's the only one who could pay for my sin."
The Lord has clothed the warrior for His own sake,
no vulnerability here for the enemy to take,
Warrior, take to heart all these things, cry out with boldness and the gospel proclaim,
The war is won, it's already finished,
You've won with Christ as your witness.
This power is given by Divine estate, the hero can't win it or design his own fate,
The Call is in place, the armor awaits,
Suit up young Warriors! Unite! Join the body and fight as one force! Sing hallelujah while the enemy hates, as you cross the River to walk through the Lords gate.
